I help high-potential humans create and live their next-level vision.
At Google, I help teams clarify their values, vision and mission, and then bring those visions to life. As a Life Coach, I help high-potential humans do the same.
I’m a master goal-getter and Statistics PhD.
My colleagues at Google call me an inspiration, a force multiplier, and the person who gets everyone to actually do the things they say they want to do.
I found this work because of my own torment…
Even though I was just chillin’ at home, my heart was pounding like I had just sprinted.
I couldn’t breathe. So I thought, “I’m gonna die.”
And then I blacked out.
This happened several times before I went to see a physician.
I walked in and told the doctor, with certainty, that something was wrong with my lungs.
After an exam, the doc told me, with certainty, that my lungs were fine. I was having panic attacks.
Oh.
I wasn’t gonna die. (At least not then. 😉 )
I had panic attacks for years after that visit to the doctor. But each time it happened,
instead of thinking “I’m gonna die,” I thought, “I’m having a panic attack.”
And I never blacked out again.
Amazing.
What could I accomplish in this world if I didn’t believe my brain each time it said “I can’t.”?
Even though my panic attacks were less severe after I learned that they were “just” panic attacks, for a long time I couldn’t figure out why I had such pervasive anxiety.
And even though I realized that when I believed I could do something I was always right about it, I still didn’t know how to get myself to believe I could do the things I wanted to do but didn’t think I could. The things that felt too scary. Or not meant for someone like me.
I tried to figure these things out with talk therapy, CBT, EMDR, support groups…
I took medication.
I used alcohol to give me “courage” and ease my worries.
It wasn’t until life coaching that I learned tools that do both of those things, never make me numb or hungover, and keep me focused on the present and future rather than the past.
Therapy was helpful (and is necessary) sometimes, but I left so many sessions feeling sad because I thought I was broken, and overwhelmed because I thought I had a lifetime of badness to work through before I’d be “better.” “Fixed.”
Life coaching acknowledges my past experiences, but keeps me in the possibility of what I’m capable of right now, despite, or even because of them.
What could you accomplish if you believed in the possibility of it?
If you didn’t think you needed fixing before you could move forward?
If you could get a clear picture of what you want, and no longer believe your brain when it says “I can’t”?
